Fieldwork at Monash Health Hospital in the Home Concludes

1 June 2026

We are pleased to share that OPTIMAL Centre of Research Excellence PhD researcher and designer India Read has completed her embedded fieldwork with the Monash Health Hospital in the Home (HITH) program.

Through this placement, India explored how haematology and infectious diseases services are delivered in patients’ homes. Using a participatory research approach, she worked closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals involved in service delivery, sharing emerging findings through journal clubs and incorporating feedback throughout the research process.

India's research aims to better understand how the many interconnected components of healthcare services come together in practice and are experienced by those delivering and receiving care. As healthcare increasingly extends beyond traditional hospital settings, this research will help inform the design and delivery of effective, patient-centred models of care.

We thank our collaborators at Monash University and Monash Health for their support and partnership in making this work possible.
