The OPTIMAL Centre of Research Excellence is pleased to congratulate Doctoral Researcher India Read, a member of the Blood Cancers Re-designing Immunoglobulin Project Team, on presenting at the Informa Connect Virtual Care Conference 2026. India presented preliminary findings from her Monash Health Hospital in the Home (HITH) Service System Mapping Research Graduate internship. This research aims to describe how HITH haematology and infectious disease services are delivered to people in their homes.

India presented her work alongside Rajni Nair, Doctoral Candidate and A/Clinical Senate Manager at Queensland Health’s Health Improvement Unit. Their session, titled ‘From System Complexity to Work Design: HITH from Two Vantage Points’ explored the in-practice realities and demands created by the delivery of acute hospital care in patient homes, and implications for future approaches to designing HITH services and teams.

Responses to the presentation were engaged. Questions from the audience related to design principles for complex problems, how the haematological and infectious disease HITH models at Monash Health differ in terms of clinical governance and what it means for practice, and whether the research has implications for dynamic demand planning.

India looks forward to completing the research and to future opportunities for sharing the learnings.
