Designing the Future of Hospital in the Home Care
We are delighted to share that OPTIMAL Centre of Research Excellence PhD researcher and designer India Read has commenced her embedded placement with the Monash Health Hospital in the Home (HiTH) program.
Supported by OPTIMAL and Monash University’s Emerging Technologies Research Lab, this collaboration brings together designers, researchers, and clinicians to better understand - and re-imagine - models of care for people living with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML).
During her placement, India will focus on how one of the world’s most mature and largest HiTH services navigates the complexity of caring for AML patients in the community. Mapping this model offers a valuable opportunity to generate insights that can inform future care delivery, at a time when there is growing global recognition that traditional hospital-based care alone will not meet future health system demands.
We are grateful to our collaborators at Monash University and Monash Health for championing innovation in care and making this opportunity possible. As always, it is a pleasure to work alongside partners across academia and health services who share a commitment to improving patient outcomes.
Congratulations, India - we look forward to the important insights that will emerge from this work.
